Finding the proper WordPress theme for your project takes a lot of time. You have so many themes to choose from that you may be completely confused. On top of that, theme sellers constantly raise the standards, and their products are awesome.
We have previously published a few theme collections—we collected a list of ten free themes for portfolios and another list of blazingly-fast themes. Now, it’s time for another round-up: ten free WordPress themes for photography sites.
All our suggestions are hand-picked and fundamental for an outstanding site featuring photos.
Bold Photography
A photography website’s design aims to help viewers focus fully on the gallery. The more discrete the header, menu, and the sidebars, the better the site. Bold Photography is a simple and discrete theme that allows viewers to enjoy the portfolio in a distraction-free environment. It comes in dark and light mode, but no matter the mode used, you have plenty of options for displaying your work.
The testimonials section is genuinely creative. It’s bold, big, and eye-catching. Viewers will notice that many people have praised your work and services.
Photograph
You can impress from the first second by setting your best photo as a full-image background. The social media icons are discrete and elegant—a perfect combination for a portfolio. However, the strongest part of Photograph is the large array of options for customizing the gallery. Check out the search form in the home page header. It’s small details like that that make a huge difference.
The only downside of this theme is the limited number of features available in the free version. Most likely, you will need to purchase the premium version if you plan to build a good-looking portfolio.
Kyamera
The themes for photography websites are similar to portfolio themes, but they aren’t limited to these. For instance, Kyamera is a theme for featuring a product. The theme allows you to display lots of photos, and in the Features section, you can present the advantages of the product. Use the blog to leverage the power of content marketing.
Kyamera not only looks great but is also designed to convert the viewers into leads and eventually clients. The bold red call-to-action button contrasts nicely with the white background—it’s practically impossible to ignore it. It’s definitely a smart implementation of marketing into the design of the theme!
FotoGraphy
One of the biggest problems for photography themes is the loading speed. The photos considerably burden the site’s file size, and it impacts the loading speed. The developers of FotoGraphy have taken this aspect into consideration and have done their best to code a fast-loading site. Additionally, the theme is optimized for search engines, so this theme is a good start for a high-ranking, fast-loading site.
FotoGraphy is not only fast-loading but also highly customizable. You can use it for photography portfolios, photoblogs, or photojournalism projects.
AcmePhoto
Are you interested in launching a new free or paid stock image site? Thanks to the search form on the home page, AcmePhoto is the ideal theme for image directory projects. The masonry style for displaying pictures brings a spark of dynamism and makes people stay on the page. Upgrade to the premium version if you want WooCommerce compatibility, different home page layouts, or custom widgets.
Exposition
Exposition proves that simplicity is always sexy! This theme works well for professional bloggers who want to deliver original content backed by expressive images. The clutter-free design, in addition to the black-and-white color scheme, ensures a great reader experience for both desktop and mobile users.
The colorful social media icons contrast with the footer, and people will notice them instantly. It’s a nice feature that will make people follow you on social media.
Snaps
Are you passionate about extreme simplicity? Do you think that the previous theme still contains unnecessary items? Snaps is all you need! It’s one of the most clutter-free WordPress themes for photography sites. The developers reduced everything to make people focus on the items in the gallery. Clearly, this site stands out from the crow, and you get the attention of every visitor!
OceanWP
Complex, multipurpose themes can’t beat the functionality of themes designed specifically for the photography niche. However, complex themes like OceanWP satisfy even the most demanding photobloggers and photographers. There are a few OceanWP demos that reveal how to use it to create a site that relies on a strong visual component.
Don’t worry about the theme’s complexity impacting the loading speed. OceanWP is one of the fastest themes, and it’s search-engine optimized.
Vertex
Vertex looks like a premium theme even though you don’t have to pay to use it. The theme is highly customizable, so you can add your personal touch to it. Also, Vertex is SEO friendly and loads blazingly fast, which considerably increases your chances of ranking in the first search positions.
Rife Free
Rife is one of the most versatile free WordPress themes for photography sites. It works for any design approach. The Frame demo shows that you can design a minimalist and modern site with Rife. The full image slider in the background allows you to display your best work immediately, reducing the chances that visitors won’t check out your work.
The Star demo is aimed at creative agencies and business sites, but it includes a lot of visuals. Include your best work in the portfolio section, where you have plenty of options for grouping them into categories.
